Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday has virtually left the Congressmen to scratch their scalps. The sensational development surfaced after die-hard Congressman Lakhwant Singh Gill alias 'Gudda' tendered his resignation from Mayor-in-Council (MiC).

Quite surprisingly, none of the Congress leaders were aware of the development even as Mayor Kiranmoyee Nayak acknowledges the receipt of handwritten, which reads Gudda's resignation. But she made another baffling revelation that the handwriting does match with that of Gudda, a fact to which the latter's wife has confirmed to Mayor her- self. While on one hand, this entire hullabaloo has caught many Congressmen in 'catch-22' situation, on the the other hand it has sparked off a debate whether it is another gimmick, which is outcome of intra-rivalry within the Congress fold. Most~hocking surprise was the fact that even the popular Congress MLA Kuldeep Juneja, who is famous for having nose to all sorts of political and public developments, was this time taken aback at the first. Juneja said that he would revert back as soon as he gets the news of Gudda's resignation confirmed.

According to information, the senior Congressman delivered his marked copies resignation letter surprisingly at RMC Commissioner and Speaker Sanjay Shrivastav's offices. But, copies' of resignation was not sent at the Mayor Kiranmoyee Nayak's office. The reason behind resignation was written on personal grounds.

Corporator senior Congress leader in Mayor-in-Council, Manoj Kandoi expressed his surprise over senior Congressman way of resigning. I smell something fishy because Gudda is senior member of MiC and he should have sent his resignation letter straight to RMC Mayor, said Kandoi.

Till afternoon, he was seen attending bus operators' meeting at collectorate but after that his mobile was switched off continuously.

Mayor Kiranmoyee Nayak when asked will she accept Gudda's, she said first I will have a discussion with him and later all Congress Corporators will take decision. She too confirmed that Gudda has resigned on personal ground but reason is best know to him.
