Raipur, 09 November 2009 – An important Raipur women body meeting is going to be held next week. Chhattisgarh Mahila Samakhya Society Executive body meeting will be convened on November 13 at Raipur CG.

The time and venue is set for 12 o'clock noon at Shankar Nagar Raipur in the office of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Chhattisgarh.

Mahila Samakhya was launched as a pilot project in Indian states Karnataka, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh in 1989 with Dutch assistance.

The project was extended to Andhra Pradesh at the end of 1992 and in two districts in Kerala in 1998. The effectiveness of the Mahila Samakhya strategy in mobilising women for education has resulted in it being adopted by other
basic education projects in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Assam and most recently in Chhattisgarh the newly formed state out of Madhya Pradesh.

MS Society was registered in Chhattisgarh in 2006 for women empowerment through education.
