Power Secretary flays Private Sector

India Power Forum became the platform for private sector to play in India power arena. India Power Secretary straightway blamed private players for “the extremely poor response in Erection, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects”. Mr H S Brahma is Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India who is handling power ministry since May 2009.

India Power Forum, the 12th one in series, held by India Energy Forum was inaugurated by Mr. Sushil kumar Shinde, The Union Power Minister of India at capital New Delhi.

Mr. P S Bami the President of India Energy Forum pointed out delay in decision making on import of coal for power plants at Government level. Coal import is very much needed to get the power target fulfilled. Mr P S Bami is former Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC Ltd, currently working as consultant giving valuable services in power sector reforms, utility management and power development independently.

Energy Secretary also pointed to the issue of Chinese engineers and technicians leaving in the lurch a big power plant in making affecting 4 states. Most probably, may be, it is Korba Balco Chimney tragedy affecting Chinese engineers.
