On 30th November a day before world AIDS day, in the evening at 6 o clock the path of Raipur Collectorate Street will be lighten by candles. During this event of candle lighting people from schools, colleges and officers from service organizations will be involved and deliver a valuable message to all sectors of people in the community on the subject of AIDS prevention.
A huge rally in Raipur district will be taken place each year on the occasion of AIDS day from Gandhi Park where large number of people will be involved.
On the occasion of World AIDS Day on December 1st morning at 80 clock a huge rally will be started in capital Raipur which originates from Gandhi park and ends up in Motibag street .In this big event many people not only from Raipur but also from surrounding districts headquarters of the state will be involved including students from schools, colleges and also self service representatives in huge numbers spreading the message of AIDS Control and prevention.
The Director Operator Services of Chhattisgarh AIDS Control Society Project, On the World AIDS Day 2010 Mr. P. Anbalagan started the rally by weaving a green flag while the rally ended in Motibag Street.
Before starting the rally Mr. Anbalagan addressed people in the rally saying PREVENTION OF AIDS IS BETTER THAN CURE. He also mentioned the ways how the HIV will be transmitted from one to other unprotected sex, contaminated needles, infected blood transfusion and infected pregnant mother can infect her baby. Other than these four reasons there won’t be any chance of spreading AIDS. So every citizen should be aware of these four factors. On the occasion of World AIDS Day, more and more people should pass this message of AIDS prevention.
For counseling and enquiries about AIDS related issues, an organization was setup in Chatishgarh where counseling was done for free of service which is organized and operated through 34 NGOs against AIDS awareness and its prevention. Medical College- Raipur, SIMS-Bilaspur, Medical College Jagdalpur, and in other district hospital they are providing the ART drug for free of cost .To create awareness to all the people who comes from different places to the state they opened AIDS awareness centers in main railway station in Bilaspur, Raipur and also in other places. Organisers in these centers will explain about AIDS prevention using pictures, posters and pamphlets.
These days AIDS has become a serious threat to the mankind there are many people all over the world affected by this disease till now there is no vaccine produced to cure this disease. So each and every person in the world must and should have awareness about the disease and teachings about AIDS should be a part of the study course starting from the school. Students should take initiative to teach each and every one in their surroundings so they should be provided with promotional materials to deal with the life threading disease.
India has ranked 2nd position based on number of individuals infected with this disease Africa holding the first place if this situation. If unawareness on AIDS is continue like this one day India will beat African countries and attain first place. National highways in the district have become sensitive areas for the transmission of AIDS where an unsafe sexual contact takes place because of unawareness in the people. In Mahasamund district it was found that by the end of this year the number of HIV-positive patients may be more than four hundred. Therefore, everyone must be aware and preventive steps to be taken on places like highways.
On occasion of World AIDS Day, Saraswathi Girls Higher Secondary School has organized Awareness Program for which organizations like Raipur District Legal Services Authority, The Science Forum and Women's associations of Chhattisgarh took part in the program and discussed the preventive measures and legal provisions pertaining to the disease.
District legal service authority Officer Ms Veena Desai, Mrs. Aruna, Mr. Abdul Javed, Miss Urwsi Agarwal lecturers of the school also addressed that the programs of this kind will be conducted each year to create awareness in the people the using slogans, sticker, paper presentation, and Pamphlet they also addressed that theses slogans and banners will be places in the public places like Courts Complex, Bus Stand, Railway Stations, town square to create awareness about AIDS.
Students from Junior Red Cross put a red ribbon to Shri Shekhar Dutt on occasion of AIDS day at Rajbhavan. He delivered speech on the activates and functions of the Junior Red Cross service in promoting the public awareness about this program. In addition he told that, Red Cross society is constantly conducting awareness camps in rural and industrial areas.
On this camp Principal of Government Senior Secondary Girls School, Shri VS Sanger, Assistant Director DEO Durg, Shri A.N.V. Satyanarayana, Government Higher Secondary School for Girls was present along with Mrs. Suman Srivastava as a chief guests.
