Ms. Mihoko Tamamura, Country Director, World Food Programme (WFP) India Presents RCFS Atlas to Public With Dr Raman Singh
Raipur, July 28, 2009 - Chhattisgarh CM said at Raipur that to ensure food security for the poor is our social commitment. He was addressing at the release (विमोचन Vimochan in Hindi) of Rural Chhattisgarh Food Security Atlas along with Ms. Mihoko Tamamura at Vidhan Sabha Samiti Hall, Raipur the capital.
Dr Raman Singh and top official of Chhattisgarh Government were present on the ocassion. Chhattisgarh is well known in India and even world to provide heavily subsidised rice and salt to poor people to live happily. The rice magic has earned the name Chaur Baba (Rice Saint or Rice Messiah) for Dr Raman Singh.
Chhattisgarh provides 35 kg rice at cost Rs 2/- per kilogram to poor citizens along with 2 kg free salt. Dr Singh clalims it social commitment towards hard working poor mass.
Currently the food security atlas is based on 2001 census and soon will be updated to based on new data but the CG CM sees Rural Chattisgarh Food Security Atlas as a good beginning towards preparing Chhattisgarh Food Security Information System.
